Brooklyn 3rd Alarm January 30, 2010
In the early morning hours of January 30, 2010, numerous calls were received for a report of a fire at 2033 86 Street near Bay 25 Street in Brooklyn. Brooklyn Box 2890 was transmitted and 4 Engines, 2 Trucks, Rescue 5, Squad 1 and Battalion 42 were assigned. There were also numerous reports of people trapped above the fire and at the windows. Members aggressively made attempts to rescue the trapped occupants. Unfortunately, several civilians were forced to escape the fire by jumping. Five residents were declared deceased including the mother of a 2 month old that was tossed from a 3rd floor window to save her. The infant suffered a fractured skull and is hospitalized. A firefighter also fell through the floor and suffered non-life threatening injuries.
