A very windy day in New York City set the stage for a 6-Alarm fire that involved 11 attached homes. Just after 1230 hours, in the Woodhaven section of Queens, Box 8582 was transmitted for a fire in a private dwelling at 91-18 96 Street. The fast moving fire doubled in speed with wind gusts as high at 60 MPH at some times. The fire got into the cockloft and spread to the exposures. It took several hours to place under control using five Tower Ladders and numerous handlines.
