On March 22, 2008, numerous calls were received by Queens Fire Alarm Dispatchers for a store fire in the vicinity of Steinway Street and 31 Avenue in the Astoria section of the Borough. Due to the amount of calls, 4 Engines, 2 Trucks, Rescue 4, Squad 288 and the 49 Battalion were assigned. Engine 263 arrived first due and transmitted a 10-75 for a fire in a 2 story commercial building at 31-21 Steinway Street. On arrival of Division 14, a second alarm was transmitted.
