Queens 66-1045 (02/03/07) : On probably NYCs first good cold snap, Far Rockaway was the scene of a spectacular 6 alarm fire. What started out as "smoke from the bedroom in apt 6H" turned out to be more than that. First due companies were up against a advanced fire. The Rockaways are notorious for wind driven fires. Several firefighters were injured. A floor collapse occurred during the fire which brought the top floor down to the 2nd. Miraculously, no firemen were seriously injured.
