Queens 44-8829; March 30, 2007 Galleries

Queens 44-8829 (03/30/07) : On a Sunny afternoon, South Jamaica was the scene of a 4 Alarm fire that involved 4 private houses.  A phone alarm was received by Queens dispatchers reporting a fire in a house adjacent to the address.  Box 8829 was transmitted for Lakewood Avenue and Princeton Street.  This fire was right up the block from the firehouse of the Princeton Street Tigers, Engine 303 and Ladder 126.  The firehouse, for the past several months has been undergoing major work to replace their apparatus floor.  Both companies have been temporarily relocated while the work is being done on the firehouse.  Both companies however did respond from their updated locations.

On arrival, heavy fire consumed two buildings with severe exposure problems.  Fire eventually communicated to two more buildings, bringing the total to four buildings involved in fire.  Numerous handlines were used to extinguish the fire.
