Queens 33-6057; March 2, 2007 Galleries

Queens 33-6057 (03/02/07) : As members in the 51 battalion were finishing their meals, a phone alarm went out for a fire in commercial occupancy on Liberty Avenue near 112 Street. Queens Box 6056 was transmitted. Due to the amount of calls received by the Queens Fire Central Office, 4 Engines, 2 Trucks, Rescue 4 and Squad 288 were assigned. Squad Co. 270 is the normally assigned 2nd due engine at this box. The 10-75 was given by Engine Co. 308. Upon arrival of the 13th Divsion, a 2nd Alarm was transmitted with a special call for an additional tower ladder. 

Heavy smoke was pushing from two stores, a Rent-A-Center and a 7-Eleven. It took several moments for companies to find the seat of the fire. A 3rd alarm was then transmitted. Because of the aggressiveness of all companies operating, they kept this taxpayer from becoming an outside operation.
