Queens 22-6034 (02/03/07) : On the afternoon of February 3, 2007, companies in the 51 Battalion were assigned to a phone alarm for a fire in a private dwelling with people trapped on 113 Street near 101 Avenue in the Richmond Hills section of Queens. Box 6034 was transmitted with Squad 270, Ladder 126, Ladder 143, Engine 308 and the 51 Battalion assigned. Due to the amount of phone calls received, 2 additional engines, 1 truck, Rescue 4 and Squad 288 were assigned. On arrival of Squad 270 and Ladder 126, heavy fire was blowing out of two floors in the rear with occupants at the windows in the front and rear of the building. The occupant in the front had jumped to the street and the occupant in the rear was removed through the interior. An OUTSTANDING job was done by companies operating at this job.
