Queens 55-9820 (03/13/06) : On Monday morning March 13, 2006, Queens fire alarm dispatchers received a phone call shortly after 1130 hours reporting fire in a store. Box 9820 was transmitted for Sutphin Blvd and 89 Ave. sending Engines 298, 303, Ladders 127 and 126 as well as Battalion 50 to the scene. Within a few short minutes, Engines 298 and 303 arrived simultaneously and were greeted by heavy smoke coming from a 1 story taxpayer. A 10-75 was given immediately. Fire was in several stores on arrival. Engines 298 and 303 made an aggressive interior attack attempt but because of advanced fire conditions, interior crews were ordered out and members on the roof were ordered off. A third alarm was transmitted approximately six minutes from the arrival of the first due companies. A special call for several additional tower ladders were requested. At the height of the fire, 5 tower ladders, 10 handlines, and several multiversals were used to attack the fire.
