Queens 44-8725 (03/02/06) : On a snowy Thursday afternoon, Queens dispatchers received numerous calls reporting a fire in an occupied multiple dwelling on the North Conduit just east of Rockaway Blvd. On arrival of first due companies, heavy fire was venting and auto-exposing from four windows in the rear of the building. CIDS information provided early information for responding units that long stretches may be required and the first due engine may need to be augmented water. A 2nd alarm was quickly transmitted and subsequently, a 3rd and 4th alarms. An aggressive interior attack was initiated however because of heavy fire on several floors, an exterior attack was put temporarily into place. When outside streams were shut down, inside crews proceeded with extinguishment.
