Queens 22-5086 (10/25/06) : In the early morning hours on a chilly October 25, 2006, numerous calls were received by Queens fire alarm dispatchers reporting a fire in a private dwelling at 115-30 175 street. Fire Alarm Dispatcher Epstein notified the 54 battalion that he was getting 4 Engines, 3 Trucks, Rescue 4 and Squad 270. Shortly thereafter, Engine 275 transmitted the 10-75. A heavy fire condition existed in the basement of the 2 1/2 story peaked roof private dwelling. The fire extended to the first floor. As members were masking up at the front door, a flashover occurred. Several truck company members sustained 2nd and 3rd degree burns. Get well soon wishes go out to the brothers. This fire required a 2nd alarm assignment.
