Brooklyn 10-0036 (05/02/06) : In the early morning hours around 0530 hrs on May 2, 2006, a fire was reported in a warehouse in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn. Box 36 was transmitted for West and Noble Sts. Within short time a 5th alarm was transmitted for heavy fire throughout two 5 story vacant factories. Several Tower Ladders and two Marine Companies were special called to the scene. 

In one of the most spectacular fires in recent New York City history, the fire involved 15 buildings in a complex of factories on the East River waterfront. The dimensions of the warehouse were a combined 200x600 feet. More than a dozen firefighters sustained minor injuries. 

At 1520 hrs (May 2, 2006), a 10th alarm was transmitted for relief purposes. This 10 alarm fire went under control 1 day, 11 hrs and 36 minutes after the initial alarm was transmitted. Because of the heavy volume and advanced conditions of fire on arrival as well as real estate issues involving the complex, the fire has been labeled suspicious in origin.
