Bronx 22-2537 (January 13, 2001) : On this very cold night of January 13, 2001, WABC Channel 7 news aired a special on the importance of smoke detectors.  Two weeks earlier there was a fatal fire in Manhattan that killed two children a few short days before Christmas.  As the show finished, Bronx box 2537 was transmitted for a fire at 320 East 166 Street off of Findlay Avenue with reports of people trapped.  Two 10-45 Code 1s (DOA) were located in the fire apartment.  At the conclusion of this job, while units were taking up, Firefighter Donald Franklin of Ladder Co. 44 suffered a fatal heart attack.
