Due to companies taking time from a previous 2nd alarm and another Box Alarm in the area, companies responding to this fire were coming from a distance. I was two blocks away when this box went out and could see the header in the sky. Engines 27, 10, 49, Ladder 22, Squad 4 and Chief 7 responded. Ladder 22 reported as well that smoke could be seen in the distance. Engine 49 arrived first due and stretched two lines. Fire had extended into the exposure which was also vacant.
